From One Child to Thousands: The Journey of Aadhaar Shiksha

Table of Contents

Every great movement begins with a simple thought. For us at Social Eye Foundation, it began with a question: “If each one of us can transform the life of just one child, how different would the world look?”

That question’s answer shaped our flagship initiative – Aadhaar Shiksha.

It all began in Ahmedabad where our team started to help poor kids pay for school. We had a clear and strong goal – each staff member in our group would support one child’s schooling. As our group got bigger, this mission grew too.

Starting in one city, Aadhaar Shiksha grew to include Indore, Kochi, and other places. Now, we plan to launch it in all 18 cities where we have offices making sure every part of our organization feels the impact of giving.

We see education as more than just books and classrooms – it gives children pride, confidence, and hope for a better tomorrow. Every fee we pay isn’t just money spent, but a bet on human potential.

Beyond Fees: The Power of the Mentor–Mentee Bond

In the Bhagavad Gita, Arjuna stood on the battlefield frozen with doubt and fear. Krishna’s guidance gave him direction, strength, and clarity. Without this mentorship, Arjuna couldn’t have won.

At the Social Eye Foundation, we see this same truth in the lives of poor kids. Paying their fees lets them enter classrooms, but who will guide them when they face tough times, peer pressure, or big life choices?

This is why our Mentor–Mentee Program is at the core of Aadhaar Shiksha.

As Shalin Parikh, Founder & Chief Impact Officer of Social Eye Foundation, explains:

“Their parents lack the education to guide them in ways that could change their lives. These kids need someone to hold their hand and point them in the right direction.”

Our mentors serve as trusted advisors giving career tips, teaching life skills, and offering emotional support. Mentorship creates a life-altering connection, whether it’s helping students study for tests cheering them on through tough times, or just lending an ear.

In fact many students we mentor say the boost they get from their mentors matters more than the money we give. It makes them believe they can reach higher than they ever thought they could.

Building the Foundation: Efficiency & Transparency

Being rooted in Gujarat, efficiency is part of our DNA. Just as in business, we wanted every rupee spent on social causes to create the maximum possible impact.

To achieve this, we built a detailed profiling system for both students and schools. Our volunteers — mostly employees of MYCPE ONE — gather crucial data points:

  • Student details: family background, parent’s occupation, academic record, and even verified bank details for direct payments.
  • School details: infrastructure mapping, fee structures, management contacts, and verified accounts.

This structure allows us to transfer funds directly to schools, eliminating intermediaries and ensuring full transparency.

Over the years, Aadhaar Shiksha has:

  • Supported 3,000+ children
  • Partnered with 50+ schools
  • Contributed up to ₹4,000 annually per child

The system not only prevents leakage of funds but also builds trust among sponsors, assuring them that every rupee is reaching the right place at the right time.

Identifying a Larger Gap

As the initiative scaled, we realized a bigger challenge: India lacked a central, transparent platform for connecting underprivileged children, schools, and sponsors.

This gap inspired us to create India’s first Philanthropy Marketplace for Education — a platform where:

  • Schools can showcase student profiles
  • Sponsors (corporates, CSR teams, individuals) can directly select and support
  • Payments are transferred seamlessly to verified school accounts

Think of it as a link – joining kindness with need, tech with care, and kids’ hopes with people who can help them grow.

Social Eye Foundation steps in to make sure everything runs  building trust and clear connections.

The Road Ahead

Our vision for Aadhaar Shiksha is ambitious yet grounded:

  • Reach 5 lakh children in 3–5 years
  • Build partnerships with 1,000+ corporates and institutions
  • Collaborate with 1,000+ schools across India
  • Integrate mentorship as a structured part of every sponsorship
  • Use technology to track student growth and impact

This isn’t just a program; it’s a movement – a call for collective responsibility where every individual, every organization, and every institution can play a role in transforming education in India.

Conclusion

Aadhaar Shiksha started with an idea: A company’s growth should match its social impact.

From one child to thousands, we’ve seen what people can do together, the power of collective action. But we’re just getting started. Each student we help creates waves that reach families, neighborhoods, and in time, the whole society.

With your support, we can make a difference in classrooms and communities alike – building a future where every kid gets the guidance, learning, and optimism they need to succeed.
